"Gaga in Da House" by Gaga Records (Electronica from Luxembourg)

Gaga Records produces the art of house music very well in their latest compilation "Gaga in Da House." This album features tracks from select artists which Gaga Records claims "They make the difference in house music." That bold statement rings true in songs like "Angel Eyes" a Viken Mardikian remix that features a smooth sax layered on top of a funky groove. In a bit of a twist from the norm, "Voodoo Essence" brings more of an African tribal vibe to the mix and is a welcome change. It is also a style not commonly found in the house genre and helps bring this disc to a different level. "Gaga in Da House" is a great listen and could very well be featured in any DJ's live club mix.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Seraphim Winter with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Seraphim Winter"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Seraphim Winter with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Seraphim Winter"

"Seraphim Winter" is the excellent self-titled debut EP from San Francisco outfit Seraphim Winter that features outstanding female lead vocals and delightful ambient arrangements. All of the members of Seraphim Winter lend their vocals to the EP, though the beautiful and sensuous lead vocals of Mary F. Connors and the harmonic backing vocals of Stephanie Eike fuel this release. The songs are soothing, enticed with melodic keyboard, guitars, and percussion, and Western influence serving as a great accompaniment to the vocals. The songs are ethereal, moody, and meditative--great for relaxation. "Seraphim Winter" is well-produced, bringing the vocals to the forefront while keeping the instruments soft and befitting. "Dawn" opens the EP with a beautiful vocal harmony, ambience, and worldly beat, then has an excellent build that moves the song into a relaxing instrumental segment. "Welcome" closes the album with a nice beat, minimalistic keyboard work, a beautiful, worldly vocal performance from Connors, and great vocal layering and harmonizing. This is a great debut EP with moving female lead vocals and great atmospheric arrangements that leave you in eager anticipation of full-length versions. Fans of new age and superb female vocals should definitely give this EP a listen.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Mythos with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Surround Sound Offensive"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Mythos with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Surround Sound Offensive"

One listen to Berlin electronica group Mythos' "Surround Sound Offensive" will change the way you listen to music forever. Mythos frontman Stephan Kaske has composed an incredible, artistic instrumental album that gives a new meaning to fullness of sound. Self-produced by Kaske in Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound, "Surround Sound Offensive" constantly has a variety of sounds going in different places at the same time that artfully come together as a compositional whole. These instrumentals, minimalistically labeled "S.S.O.-1" through "S.S.O.-11" are excellently crafted, well-layered, catchy, and unique. These songs are, by nature, best when listened to loudly on a surround sound system, and the album is meant to be listened to from beginning to end, as an artistic whole. "S.S.O.-2" has an '80s feel to it with a great beat and a full sound that brings lots of different sounds together. "S.S.O.-8" has a lot of spacey ambience going, more great beats, and excellent instrumental layering with well-timed fades and dueling instrumentation. "Surround Sound Offensive" is an electronica masterpiece filled with amazing, full instrumentation that fills the canvas with Kaske's artistic expression. Fans of electronica, and anyone with a surround sound system are going to want to pick this one up.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Thomas Hutchings with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Allergic to Gravity"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Thomas Hutchings with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Allergic to Gravity"

"Allergic to Gravity" is a unique jazz-tronica album from New York City saxophonist/electronic music composer Thomas Hutchings. This album is all about making original, good music. Hutchings' songs originate with the synthesizer, programmed beats, and various electronica elements, forming the base for all the tracks. Then he dubs live instruments, including percussion, creative guitar, funky bass, sax, flute, clarinet, and trumpet over it to complete the arrangement. Some tracks are jazz-heavy, others are electronica-heavy, and still others breech the trip-hop and funk genres. All of the arrangements are outstanding, with catchy hooks, danceable beats, and the live instruments perfectly in sync with the programmed elements. "Allergic to Gravity" is well-produced, and the louder you play it, the better. "Shizznizzle" has a great arrangement with a quick flute line throughout, a funky bass line, hot beats programming, and an overall consistency throughout. "Everybody Say Ahhhhh" is an electronica-heavy track with extreme danceability and light horns in the background, and features a great trumpet solo against the beats. Overall, "Allergic to Gravity" is an original album that fuses two distinct genres through a great electronic base and excellent jazz accompaniments. Fans of either of these genres should see what jazz-tronica is all about.

"Little Escapades" by Aina (Pop/Electronica Artist from Norway)

Aina's latest release "Little Escapades" is composed of an alternative/pop/electronic, yet unique, sound. As a seasoned solo artist, Aina confidently expresses her vocal maturity with style and grace. Her vocal range is truly amazing as you can hear her silky voice gliding from the lower to upper register. On the title track "Little Escapades," her emotional, strong, and powerful vocals intensify the mood of the lyrics. Mysterious string sound effects enhance the delicate and mystifying vocals on "Sitting Knitting Stars" as the song has an eerie overtone to it. The overall production is well orchestrated as instrumental sounds are skillfully layered over the melodic vocals. "Little Escapades" is one album well worth hearing, especially if you like alternative/pop music featuring sleek female vocals.

"A1" by Experience Deluxe (Electronica Artist from Germany)

"A1" by Experience Deluxe is a charming assortment of lounge/club mixes. This group has creative talent as they explore styles of music with electronic sounds in enjoyable melodies. "Du Tust Mir Gut" has striking piano chords accompanied by a melodic horn to a soft soothing tempo. Electronic synth sounds on "Reality" make it a club mix with a funky bass line and vocals spoken with moving tone. The inventive club mix on "Samples & Sounds" exhibits the artistic ability this group has. Percussion and synth interplay with each other, while a two-measure count-off beep from a metronome interjects in the middle of the song. Let the sounds of the ocean waves on "Aloha (High Vibes Latin House)" take you to a tropical paradise while the bass riffs a sultry pattern to the intriguing rhythmic beat. Listeners who want to sit back and relax to a variety of lounge/club music should definitely pick up Experience Deluxe's "A1."
